My luve's like a red, red rose

Oh, my luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June;
Oh, my luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly played in tune.

Get some Christmas inspiration

Today I would like to make an easy Christmas ornaments tutorial. For that you will need:
- a plastic ornament;
- Mineral spirits;
- several colors of acrilic paints;
- decoupage rice paper or a napkin with Christmas motives;
- brushes, a sponge, school glue, water-based varnish;
- a piece of sandpaper (#150)
Let's start creating!
1. Wipe the ornament with Mineral spirits.

2. Paint the ornament white using a piece of sponge. Wait until it dries (if you are very impatient like me use a hair-drier) and do the same again. If the surface not very even polish it with sand paper.

3. Mix a large spoon of school glue with the same quantity of water. Tear out the napkin motive (don't cut it out as the edge will be seen when you paint it). Using a flat brush and our school glue mixture stick the napkin to the ornament moving the brush from the middle to the edge in all directions. Wait until dry then do it again on the othe side of the ornament. Wait until dry or use a hair-dryer. Varnish the surfice with a flat brush. Let dry.

4. Choose colors which will match best to the motive and apply them with the sponge in two layers waitin until it dries after the first layer. Don't forget to always put sponges and brushes in a cup filled with water as acrilics dry up very fast and can spoil your staff forever.

5. Varnish the ornament and polish it with sand paper when it is dry. Using the sponge and brown color make some "traces of time" as our ornaments are supposed to look like vintage ones. Take an old tooth brush and sprikle them with the same brown paint a little mixed with water.

 6. Varnish for the third time and polish with sand paper.  Let dry. Decorate the ornaments with ribbons and laces.

Enjoy your work! Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas trees's decoration is 100% handmade. This is the best Christmas inspiration - when each member of the family gets to do their own project for the Christmas tree.

This birdhouse is decoupaged and painted by my 4-year-old daughter. She totally enjoyed the process and the result.
